Attiya Mahmood

Attiya Mahmood has served as Ambassador for Pakistan to the Kingdom of Morocco, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Indonesia, in addition to serving in various other capacities over 35 years in the Foreign Service of Pakistan. During her tenure in Jordan from 2010 to 2013, she witnessed the transformative events unfolding in the region. She also established the first Human Rights desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which time she participated in the HR Council meetings in Geneva and UNGA sessions in New York. She is also member of a Citizens group “Kasur Humara Hai” (the fault is ours), formed following the heinous rape
and murder of a young girl, Zainab, in the city of Kasur. The group has orked for legislation to create a national helpline for such incidents.
